Some Estimates on the Boltzmann Collision Operator
The paper presents some new estimates on the gain term of the Boltzmann collision operator. For Maxwellian molecules, it is shown that the L 1 {norm of the gain term can be bounded in terms of the L 1 and L 1 {norm of the density function f. In the case of more general collision kernels, like the hard{sphere interaction potential, the gain term is estimated pointwise by the L 1 {norm of the den...
متن کاملSharp Anisotropic Estimates for the Boltzmann Collision Operator and Its Entropy Production
Abstract. This article provides sharp constructive upper and lower bound estimates for the Boltzmann collision operator with the full range of physical non cut-off collision kernels (γ > −n and s ∈ (0, 1)) in the trilinear L(R) energy 〈Q(g, f), f〉. These new estimates prove that, for a very general class of g(v), the global diffusive behavior (on f) in the energy space is that of the geometric ...
متن کاملEntropy operator for continuous dynamical systems of finite topological entropy
In this paper we introduce the concept of entropy operator for continuous systems of finite topological entropy. It is shown that it generates the Kolmogorov entropy as a special case. If $phi$ is invertible then the entropy operator is bounded with the topological entropy of $phi$ as its norm.

متن کاملEntropy Dissipation Estimates in a Zero – Range Dynamics
We prove new inequalities implying exponential decay of relative entropy functionals for a class of Zero–Range processes on the complete graph. We first consider the case of uniformly increasing rates, where we use a discrete version of the Bakry– Emery criterium to prove spectral gap and entropy dissipation estimates, uniformly over the number of particles and the number of vertices. We then s...
